Special lectures on “Artificial intelligence tools and library science” and “Artificial intelligence tools for academic and research work”

Chandigarh, March 19, 2024: The Department of Library and Information Science, Panjab University, Chandigarh organized special lectures on “Artificial intelligence tools and library science” and “Artificial intelligence tools for academic and research work”. 

Dr. Shiv Kumar, Chairperson of the department welcomed the resource person and participants. Prof.Margam Madhusudhan (from the Department of Library & Information Science, University of Delhi, New Delhi) was the resource person. Prof.Margam Madhusudhan highlighted the significance of Artificial intelligence and its implications in today’s time. He also pointed out that the application of Artificial intelligence in library services is the need of the hour. 

In addition, he discussed on practical applications of Artificial Intelligence in libraries. The lecture highlighted AI's role in revolutionizing traditional library functions, streamlining academic and research workflows, and enabling data-driven decision-making. The lectures provided valuable insights into the transformative potential of AI tools in library science, academic research, and scholarly activities. He further added that by harnessing the power of AI, institutions and library professionals can enhance information management, streamline workflows, and unlock new opportunities for knowledge discovery and innovation. The lecture was attended by about 80 participants.
