Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in Ludhiana to begin from June 15: Additional District Election Officer
Additional Deputy Commissioner (G)-cum-Additional District Election Officer Poonam Singh on Monday held a meeting with representatives of all recognised and unrecognised registered political parties regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls to be conducted in the district from June 15.
Ludhiana, May 18, 2026: Additional Deputy Commissioner (G)-cum-Additional District Election Officer Poonam Singh on Monday held a meeting with representatives of all recognised and unrecognised registered political parties regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls to be conducted in the district from June 15.
Addressing a press conference, Poonam Singh informed that Ludhiana district has 26,95,307 registered voters, out of which 19,79,041 voters have already been mapped by Booth Level Officers (BLOs), accounting for 73.43 per cent of the electoral roll. There are 2,927 polling booths across the 14 Assembly constituencies in the district. She further stated that the SIR exercise in Punjab will commence from June 15, 2026, while October 1, 2026, has been fixed as the qualifying date for electoral rolls in the state.
According to the schedule, preparations, training and printing of enumeration forms will take place from June 15 to June 24. From June 25 to July 24, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will conduct door-to-door visit for the distribution of enumeration forms containing voters’ details. BLOs will visit each voter’s residence up to three times during the exercise.
Singh further added that as per the Election Commission’s guidelines, rationalisation of polling booths having more than 1,200 voters per booth will be carried out on July 24. During this process, corrections related to polling station buildings, including changes in location or name, will also be made wherever required. The draft publication of electoral rolls will be carried out on July 31, while claims and objections can be submitted from July 31 to August 30. Disposal of claims and objections will be carried out by Electoral Registration Officers by September 28, and the final publication of electoral rolls will take place on October 1, 2026.
Poonam Singh appealed to all residents of district to fully cooperate with Booth Level Officers when they visit households for enumeration. She urged voters to provide the required documents from the list of 12 documents prescribed by the Election Commission of India to facilitate the revision process smoothly. She also informed that voters can check their voter details through the official websites — Election Commission of India and Chief Electoral Officer Punjab — as well as by downloading the ECI Net App on their mobile phones.
Earlier, Poonam Singh briefed representatives of political parties in detail about the SIR process and directed them to appoint Booth Level Agents (BLAs) at the earliest to ensure transparency and smooth conduct of the revision exercise.
Election Tehsildar Rajan Dhall, Election Kanungo Ashwani Kumar and Jagtar Singh were also present on the occasion.
