The workers and cadre of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) appear to be enthusiastic about contesting the Punjab Assembly elections in 2027 on their own. This follows BJP National General Secretary (Organisation) B.L. Santosh’s two-day tour of Punjab, during which he indicated that the party could contest all Assembly seats in the upcoming elections.
His remarks have fuelled speculation about the future of the existing political alliance. However, the final course of action will become clear only in the coming days.
B.L. Santosh was accompanied during his Punjab visit by BJP National Vice-President Manpreet Singh Badal, Punjab Political Affairs Co-Incharge Narinder Singh Raina, Punjab BJP President Kewal Singh Dhillon, BJP State General Secretary (Organisation) Manthri Srinivasulu and other senior party leaders. They participated in a series of organisational meetings across the state.
B.L. Santosh is an experienced BJP organisational leader who has served as the party’s General Secretary (Organisation) since 2019. He has consistently emphasised strengthening the party’s grassroots organisation and expanding its base through the active participation of workers.
During his tenure, particular emphasis has been placed on strengthening booth-level committees and expanding their reach. His organisational approach stresses that sustained efforts by party workers at the grassroots level are essential for strengthening and expanding the party.
The BJP leadership appears satisfied with the progress made in strengthening the party’s organisational base in Punjab, both in rural and urban areas. The party has been focusing on completing its organisational preparations while motivating its cadre to work with renewed enthusiasm.
The latest developments indicate that the BJP is preparing its organisation in Punjab with an eye on the 2027 Assembly elections and is encouraging its workers to make sustained efforts to strengthen the party at every level.
