Ludhiana, August 2, 2013: SP Karkara, President of  Senior Citizens’ Welfare Association Ludhiana took over as President of Federation of Senior Citizens’ Associations of Punjab (FEDSEN-Punjab) at Mohali on Thursday.

Consequent on resignation of Founder President of FEDSEN Dr. A S Khehra, former Vice Chancellor of Punjab Agricultural University on health grounds, Karkara was unanimously elected as his successor in the meeting of Governing Body of FEDSEN held at Mohali yesterday. Dr. A S Khehra was made Chairman in view of his outstanding services to senior citizens of the state.

FEDSEN is the only state level body of senior citizens recognised by Punjab government. It was formally launched by Parkash Singh Badal, Chief Minister Punjab on January 30, 2010. More than thirty associations of senior citizens all over the state are its members, said Dr. Sarjit Singh Gill, General Secretary, in a release here today.
