Chandigarh, August 2, 2026: Welcoming the launch of the ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan’ by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, senior BJP leader Sanjay Tandon said the nationwide initiative marks a decisive step towards safeguarding India's youth and realizing the dream of a Viksit Bharat.
"The launch of the 'Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan' under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is a historic initiative. A developed India can only be built by healthy, educated and empowered youth. Every citizen has a responsibility to make this campaign a people's movement," Tandon said.
Describing substance abuse as one of the greatest challenges confronting the younger generation, Tandon said the campaign goes beyond an awareness programme and seeks to transform into a mass movement involving every section of society.
He said the fight against drugs cannot be won by governments alone and requires the active participation of parents, teachers, educational institutions, social organisations, religious leaders and community volunteers.
"Drug addiction destroys not only individuals but also families and society. We must create an environment where our youth are inspired to pursue education, sports, innovation and nation-building instead of falling prey to the menace of narcotics," he added.
Tandon further stated that the Prime Minister has consistently emphasised the importance of protecting the country's demographic dividend and empowering young people to contribute meaningfully to India's development journey.
Expressing confidence in the success of the campaign, Tandon urged young people to take a pledge to remain drug-free and motivate others to do the same.
"Let every village, every ward, every educational institution and every household become a partner in this mission. Together, we can build a drug-free society and fulfil the Prime Minister's vision of a strong, prosperous and developed India," he said.
