Seminar on “Hindi in the New Century: Global Recognition and Challenges” held in Doaba College
PG Department of Journalism & Mass Communication and Department of Education Doaba College, Jalandhar, organized a seminar on ocusing on “Hindi in the New Century: Global Recognition and Challenges.”

Jalandhar, September 20, 2025: PG Department of Journalism & Mass Communication and Department of Education Doaba College, Jalandhar, organized a seminar entitled “Hindi in the New Century: Global Recognition and Challenges.”
Dr Ajay Sharma –Member-Hindi Advisory Committee , Union Ministry of Women and Child Development , Government of India , Shiromani Sahityakar ( Punjab Government) and Renowned Hindi Novelist graced the occasion as Key Speaker who was heartily welcomed by Principal Dr Pardeep Bhandari, Dr. Simran Sidhu, Head, Dr Avinash Chander-Head, staff and students.
Dr Simran Sidhu welcomed the guests and apprised that this event provides an insight to the students about the role of Hindi Language in journalism, and its potential to empower independent thinking and communication skills in our society at large.
Dr. Ajay Sharma, highlighted language as a tool of expression, emphasizing that learning multiple languages—including Hindi, Punjabi and English—enhances personal and professional growth. Dr Sharma spoke about Hindi’s role in connecting India’s multilingual states as a potent link language . He spoke about Punjab’s immense contribution in declaring Hindi as the official language, and the growth of Hindi journalism in Punjab since 1999. While Sharing his personal experiences in journalism and literature, he addressed challenges in digital and social media journalism, the rise of sensationalism, and the importance of passion, alertness, and including the human angle in reporting.
Principal Dr. Pardeep Bhandari discussed about importance of maintaining purity of language. He highlighted Hindi’s role as a unifying language justifying their concept of unity in diversity. He said that we should respect regional languages like Punjabi, and emphasized avoiding any political disputes over language. He also discussed how platforms like this lecture help students regain confidence, foster independent thinking, and develop the ability to retain their own ideas in a media-driven world. Dr. Bhandari appreciated the government’s initiative to introduce technical courses in Hindi and encouraged students to use every language in its pure form while focusing on opportunities for professional growth.
During the session, students Khushi, Simran, Sujal, Tarun and Kanchan shared their views on the theme, discussing topics such as the global recognition of Hindi, the role of social media, and the challenges and opportunities for Hindi journalism in the digital era. Principal Dr Pardeep Bhandari Dr Simran Sidhu and Dr Avinash Chander felicitated the participating Students and Dr Ajay Sharma with mementoes.
