Jalandhar, March 29, 2023: BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) Unit of Doaba College Jalandhar organized a BIS sponsored expert lecture on “Indian Standards” on March 28. Sanjiwan Singh Dadhwal, Regional Resource Person, BIS and Ashish Kumar Dwivedi, Standard Promotion Officer, BIS, JKBO were the resource persons. Resource persons were given floral welcome by Principal Dr. Pardeep Bhandari, Dr. Rakesh Kumar coordinator DCJ BIS unit, Dr. Ashwani Balhotra and Prof. Gulshan Sharma.

Principal Dr. Pardeep Bhandari appreciated the efforts of BIS in introducing the concept of standardization and quality to students at young age. He also encouraged students to spread the importance of buying ISI marked quality products and refrain from purchasing sub-standard, cost effective articles. 

Sanjiwan Singh Dadhwal appraised to the audience functioning of BIS as National Standard Body. He stressed upon the process of certification on products available in market. He further demonstrated the use of BIS care mobile application to check authenticity of ISI mark on given products. 

Dr. Rakesh Kumar explained the process of standard writing to the students and also highlighted the need to shift an ignorant buyer to informed buyer. Eighty students participated in the standard writing competition. 

Ratneet Kaur (B.Sc. B.Ed. Medical Semster IV) got first position, Lakshmi (B.Sc. Medical Semester VI) got second, Pihu (B.Sc. IT Semester II) got third and Arshdeep Kaur (B.Com. VI) got consolation prize respectively. 

Event ended with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Rakesh Kumar.
