The one-week long virtual value added heartfulness program “Self Development” conducted by the University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and the department of Education Panjab University, from July 28 to August 3, 2022 was successfully concluded on Wednesday.

Chandigarh, August 5, 2022: The one-week long virtual value added heartfulness program “Self Development” conducted by the University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and the department of Education Panjab University, from July 28 to August 3, 2022 was successfully concluded on Wednesday.

The value added course was inaugurated by DUI Prof Renu Vig in the presence of Prof Sukhbir Kaur. It witnessed a humongous participation from the participants across the university campus. Under the umbrella of “Self-Development ” program, the participants were exposed to a holistic culture of guided meditation, introspection and guided cleansing sessions taken up by Dr. Ankit, the coordinator of Hearful Campus initiative . In addition to the everyday morning and evening guided meditation practices, a series of talks by eminent speakers on various topics of relevance were also organized. The topics including Power of Pause, the Heart behind Meditation, Power of Thoughts and Positive Thinking etc were taken up by heartfulness instructors and speakers. The eminent speakers for the program included Brigadier Narinder Singh, Sister Manjula, Professor Bawa, Professor Vashist, Ms. Indu Aggarwal, Ms. Rikita, Brigadier Kuljit and Colonel Dheeraj. These resource persons have been active members of Heartfulness Education Trust, an NGO who contributed their valuable time and experiences to guide the students on their heartfulness journey towards excellence in every sphere of life including their career. 

The valedictory function was graced by the presence of the chief guest Mr. Sanjay Bhatia, the Upa-Lokayukta of Maharashtra and former chairman of Mumbai Ports Trust and Indian Ports Association. The respected dignitaries including Professor Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University, Prof. Nandita Shukla, Department of Education, Panjab University, Sister Manjula, Heartfulness instructor and Professor Latika, Panjab University honoured the valedictory function with their presence. The programme was hosted by the students of University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Ginni Dhankar and Manmeet Kaur Saini. The function started off with an unique prayful way where  Sister Manjula, with her magical and melodious voice evoked the state of meditation while infusing the idea of igniting the inner light   inside the hearts of attendees, leaving them in state of tranquillity and stillness. It was followed by a formal welcome by  Professor Nandita Shukla   to the esteemed chief guest for the evening, Mr. Sanjay Bhatia. The chief guest shared his valuable experiences in the journey of meditation, and the way it helped him built trust and harmony in the organisational environment. He also urged the youngsters to stick to the path of heartfulness with extreme zealousness and enthusiasm to become an asset for the nation.

A warm welcome to the chief guest and words of wisdom were shared by Professor Indu Pal Kaur, Chairperson, University Institute of Pharmaceutical Science and Professor Om Prakash Katare.  A short presentation on the proceedings of the week long value added course was presented by Manmeet Kaur Khanna which was followed by a feedback session by the attendees of the course, Diksha Jain and Hasratjot Singh Saini,  of UIPS who shared their transformative experience and the enthusiasm to spread the word on campus and beyond. 

The welcome address of the chief guest was followed by a warm welcome to Professor Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University. Emphasising the importance of meditation practices and the way it should be taught at early stages of life in order to empower the youth. Professor Kumar stressed on the urgent need for  self development at the individual level and also urged for such well structured programs as a fundamental course requirement for every stream of University including Engineering, Medical, Pharmacy, Arts and others. Ms. Latika, Professor at Panjab University, presented the Vote of Thanks, which concluded the valedictory function.
