SCS Celebrates 15th Anniversary of Radio Jyotirgamaya on 14th World Radio Day

Chandigarh, February 13, 2026: Reviving beloved shows and expanding reach through the new Radio Jyotirgamaya app The School of Communication Studies (SCS) marked the 15th anniversary of Radio Jyotirgamaya 91.2 MHz along with the 14th World Radio Day today from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm.

Chief guests Rajbala Kataria, Joint Director, WCD Haryana, Praveen Kumar Yadav, Zonal Manager, NFL, and PU Registrar Prof. Y. P. Verma led the cake-cutting ceremony and the relaunch of the station’s most popular programmes, returning with their Season 2 editions.

PU Registrar Prof. Verma also announced a dedicated mobile app for Radio Jyotirgamaya, aimed at expanding its digital reach. The station relaunched Shiksha ke Anek Aayam Season 2 and Ek Kavi Anek Kavitayein Season 2, continuing its focus on community participation, education and entertainment.

SCS Chairperson Prof. Archana R. Singh welcomed the attendees and highlighted flagship shows such as Mhaari Lado, a collaboration with WCD Haryana focusing on women empowerment, and Kisaan Vani, produced in collaboration with NFL to promote agricultural knowledge and sustainable farming practices.

Video messages from Vice-Chancellor Prof. Renu Vig and Sh. Tarun Kumar Batra, Chief General Manager, NFL Bathinda, were played during the event. The programme also featured engaging sessions, including a talk by third-generation farmer Harkirat Singh Ahluwalia and a poetry recital by Annu Rani Sharma. An NFL soil testing lab conducted a live soil-testing demonstration outside the radio station, which participants attended with enthusiasm.

SCS students performed raps and skits showcasing the transformative impact of radio on various communities. Attendees included Dr. Puneet Kaur Grewal, Women Empowerment Expert, Smt. Surjita, Programme Officer, Rajkumar Rapelly, NFL HRD Manager, faculty members and volunteers. City-based poets Dr. Alka Kansra, Dr. Rekha Mittal, Annu Rani Sharma and Vijay Kapoor were also present.

The event concluded with the distribution of appreciation certificates, marking 15 years of Radio Jyotirgamaya’s contribution to women’s development and farmer education.
