School of Communication Studies marks National Public Relations Day 

Chandigarh, April 20, 2023: School of Communication Studies marks National Public Relations Day with a Special Lecture. 
 
School  of communication Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh, today organised an interactive session on the topic, 'Functioning of Government Media Units and Effective Management of Social Media' to mark the National Public Relations Day that falls on April 21.  Rajinder Chaudhry, ADG, PIB,  Chandigarh was the resource person for the event. Harshit Narang, Assistant Director, PIB, Chandigarh was the special guest. 
 
Dr. Bhavneet Bhatti, Chairperson, School of Communication Studies, welcomed the guests and shared the relevance of understanding the functioning of Government Media Units, especially with respect to Social Media. 
 
Rajinder Chaudhry informed and discussed about cyber security and its threats, functioning of PIB and its activities, news filtering mechanism, New Media Wings and Electronic Media Monitoring Centre of PIB. Chaudhry also  offered the internships and other training modules to the students of SCS. Harshit talked about how PIB has focused on fact checking and set up of PIB fact checking unit, mobile journalism, use of bots and much more. 
 
Students of SCS asked many questions regarding the opportunities PIB is giving to budding Mass Communicators and overall working of government media bodies. 
 
The event concluded by the formal Vote of Thanks by the student.
