Schoolchildren's eyes being examined by Sankara Eye Hospital, Ludhiana.

Ludhiana, June 23, 2015: In last two months, Sankara Eye Hospital has organized eye screening camps in different schools of the city. In these eye checkup camps Sankara Eye Hospital conducted preliminary tests on nearly 3800 students. Out of which around 500 students were identified with some vision problems and then referred to the hospital for further checkups and their treatment. These eye checkup camps were held in 6 different schools including Sat Paul Mittal, Delhi Public School, Deaf & Dumb School, Saraswati Public School, Guru Teg Bahadur public School and S.G.G. School. The idea is to diagnose eye problems in children early & treat them. And to make the parents and teachers aware of the menace. So that they are able to recognize these eye problems in children to refer them to the treatment centers.

Sankara eye Foundation (SEF), of which the Sankara Eye Hospital Ludhiana is a part was established in the year 1977 under the ageis of Shri Kanchi Kamakoti Medical Trust from a small room in a temple at Coimbatore and since its foundation SEF has been able to establish thirteen hospitals in India.
