Post Graduate English literature 1975 Alumni of SCD Govt. College, Ludhiana celebrated their golden jubilee meet in the college marking their 50 years of fraternity. Many alumni from Punjab converged. Prominent among them were Prof P K Sharma and O P Verma (PCS Retd.), Dalbir Mauli, Ramesh Datt, Vinod Sharma, Prof Mamta Wadhera, Prof Rashmi ,Prof Dr P D Gupta, Dr Ashwani Malhotra, Dr Sunil Chopra. Prof Menon, Prof Tara Singh besides many others.
Ludhiana, December 25, 2025: Post Graduate English literature 1975 Alumni of SCD Govt. College, Ludhiana celebrated their golden jubilee meet in the college marking their 50 years of fraternity. Many alumni from Punjab converged. Prominent among them were Prof P K Sharma and O P Verma (PCS Retd.), Dalbir Mauli, Ramesh Datt, Vinod Sharma, Prof Mamta Wadhera, Prof Rashmi ,Prof Dr P D Gupta, Dr Ashwani Malhotra, Dr Sunil Chopra. Prof Menon, Prof Tara Singh besides many others. Engineer Dr T S Kamal, A senior alumnus of 1961 presided the meet recollected fond memories of teachers. Brij Bhushan Goyal, the organising secretary of the alumni association coordinated the alumni efforts with the college and compered the programme. Prof Sharma donated an amount of rupees twenty thousand for helping Visually Impaired and Disabled students besides giving ten thousand for purchase of competition books in the college library. O P Verma also donated another five thousand for the cause. Alumni said that visiting their alma mater has always been a pilgrimage. All remembered their legendary teachers like Prof. Surinder Singh Narula and Prof R N Matta and many other such teachers.
Prof Sharma, the convener stressed for strengthening the alumni association concept in India as a mission and mass movement in premier colleges like their college as is happening in many a developed country. He quoted Harvard University in USA when President Donald Trump froze grants of the university but the alumni president Dr Alan Garbar stuck to his guns in opposition as 40% of that university grants are from alumni associations, which is a significant part of that university budget. He also quoted IIT Pilani alumni who are supporting their alma mater.
Prof Satnam Singh who represented college thanked alumni guests in his eloquent speech and received books on behalf of Principal Gursharanjit Singh Sandhu also an alumnus of the college who lauded alumni efforts.
