Rohtak, October 24, 2026: Students of Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLCSUPVA) explored the architectural legacy of the Indus Valley Civilisation during an educational visit to the ongoing Rakhigarhi Festival.
The delegation from the university’s Faculty of Architecture and Visual Arts also attended an international conference and interacted with experts to understand the archaeological significance of Rakhigarhi, one of the prominent sites of the Harappan civilisation.
The students explored ancient structures, artefacts and archaeological findings, gaining insights into the town planning, construction techniques, drainage systems and building materials used thousands of years ago. They also observed how ancient settlements were designed in harmony with their natural surroundings.
Dean Academics Dr Ajay Kaushik said the visit aimed to provide students with practical exposure to historical architecture beyond classroom learning. He said studying ancient urban planning and construction techniques could offer valuable lessons for contemporary architecture while fostering a sense of responsibility towards heritage conservation.
The students described the visit as an enriching experience that helped them understand the links between Indian history, culture and architecture. They also pledged to contribute towards preserving historical sites and creating awareness about their significance.
Dean of Cultural and Student Activities Vinay Kumar said the visit would strengthen the students’ academic understanding and encourage them to draw inspiration from the achievements of ancient Indian civilisation while exploring modern architectural practices.
