Nawanshahar, November 17, 2022: Terming Sardar Bhagat Singh, the great son of soil whose sacrifice ignited the freedom struggle and inspired the youth to stand against the Britishers unitedly, Member of Rajya Sabha, Sanjeev Arora said that the nation would always be indebted to Sardar Bhagat Singh and his whole family.

     During his maiden visit to Khatkar Kalan after being elected as Rajya Sabha Member, Arora paid respect to Sardar Bhagat Singh and his late father Sardar Kishan Singh at their  ancestral village Khatkar Kalan on Thursday. 

      He said that there were times when the people of the country  wanted freedom from the clutches  of Britishers and they were treated ruthlessly  by the rulers. Punjabis were among the front runners who participated in the freedom movement brave heartly and made  most of the  sacrifices and contribution for the independence.

      Terming the post independence generations very lucky having their own independent country, Rajya Sabha Member said that we should always be thankful to our forefathers and great freedom fighters who fought for our freedom and rights.

     While visiting the ancestral house of the legendary freedom fighter and hero of the Nation, Sardar Bhagat Singh, he got nostalgic to see the family photographs and  belongings of the martyr's family. He advised the authorities to give in writing details to these belongings and photographs so that the young generation could know their rich legacy. He was accompanied by Eminent Author, Environmentalist and Nature Artist Harpreet Sandhu.

    He announced an amount of Rs 10 Lakh as grant  from MPLAD for the village on this occasion and assured to sanction more for other needs of the historical village.

     Interacting with the media persons, he said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann led Punjab Government is committed to make the state progressive and most developed destination of the country. He said that the Punjab Government is  marching ahead for fulfilling  all the promises made to the people of the Punjab and most of them have already been implemented.

    Earlier, administrative officers including DC Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa, SSP Bhagirath Singh Meena, SDM Major Shivraj Singh Bal welcomed the MP at district administrative complex, Nawanshahar and he was presented a guard of honour by the district Police.

     Prominent among others present at Khatkar Kalan included DC NPS Randhawa, SDM Major Shivraj Singh Bal, DSP Sarvan Singh Bal, Gurwinder Kaur Sarhal, Rajdeep Sharma, Shiv Kaura, Gagan Agnihotri, Vinit Rana and villagers.
