Mumbai (Anil Bedag): At a time when adulteration in fruits, vegetables and food products and the excessive use of chemical pesticides are becoming a growing concern, the search for pure and natural food has become a priority for many people. Understanding this concern, Gujarat-based farmer-entrepreneur Shailesh Jariya has launched his organic brand ‘Gir Veggies’ in Mumbai.
Indian MMA fighter and actor Sangram Singh was also present at the launch event and has been appointed as the brand ambassador. During the press conference held in Mumbai, the initiative was presented not merely as a business venture but as a responsibility toward people’s health.
An Idea Born Out of Concern Over Adulterated Food
Shailesh Jariya explained that diseases such as cancer, diabetes, blood pressure and heart attacks have multiple causes, but adulterated and chemically treated food is one of the major factors contributing to them.
He said, “Whenever I went to the market to buy fruits and vegetables, a question always came to my mind—are we buying food or something that slowly acts like poison? That thought inspired me to promote organic farming.”
This idea eventually became the foundation of the ‘Gir Veggies’ brand, which aims to provide pure and natural food to consumers.
The organic farming is being carried out at ‘Shaileshbhai Ni Wadi’ farm located in Amrapur Gir village in Junagadh district of Gujarat. The farm follows completely natural farming practices. The key objective of the initiative is to deliver produce directly from the farm to consumers’ homes, ensuring freshness and quality.
Sangram Singh Supports the Initiative
Indian MMA fighter Sangram Singh appreciated the initiative and emphasized the importance of natural food in modern life. He said that in today’s fast-paced urban lifestyle, people are gradually moving away from natural food.
Recalling his childhood, he said,
“When we were kids, we used to pluck fruits directly from trees and eat them. That experience is almost lost in cities today. When Shailesh Jariya shared the idea of his organic farm and delivering fresh fruits and vegetables directly from farms to homes, I found it extremely positive.” Sangram Singh also mentioned that he personally tasted the fruits from the farm and found their quality excellent.
Preparing for an International Fight
Along with the organic brand launch, Sangram Singh is also making headlines for his sporting career. He is set to compete in an international MMA bout under the ‘Samurai Fight League’ in Argentina on April 5, 2026, where he will face an opponent from France.
Home Delivery to Begin in Mumbai
Initially, ‘Gir Veggies’ will start delivering organic fruits and vegetables twice a week in Mumbai’s Kandivali, Borivali, Dahisar and Malad areas.
The company’s goal is not just business but to create a direct connection between farmers and consumers, ensuring that people receive fresh, pure and chemical-free food products.
With the growing awareness about health and nutrition, initiatives like ‘Gir Veggies’ reflect a shift toward a healthier and more sustainable future—where farming, nature and consumers are connected through trust and purity.
