Dharamshala, March 1, 2024: A groundbreaking digital literacy initiative, 'Sachetan', was unveiled at the Government Post Graduate College auditorium in Dharamshala, targeting the populace of the Kangra division. 

Divisional Commissioner A. Shaynamol spearheaded the inauguration, highlighting the campaign's reach across the three pivotal districts of Chamba, Kangra, and Una. This initiative aims to elevate digital literacy among the masses, recognizing the ubiquity of computers and mobile phones in contemporary life.

The essence of 'Sachetan' is to enlighten the community on the adept and secure utilization of digital tools, acknowledging the pivotal role of technology in everyday activities. The inaugural event saw speakers educating students on the prudent use of computer-based technologies, with plans to extend these invaluable lessons to senior citizens, farmers, and professionals from diverse fields to cater to their specific digital engagement needs.

The launch event was graced by notable dignitaries including Saurabh Jassal, the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Kangra; Dr. Sanjeevan Katoch, Principal of Government College, Dharamshala; Ram Prasad, Assistant Commissioner of the Divisional Commissioner's office in Kangra; Bhupendra Pathak from the National Information Center, Kangra; Praveen Dhiman, the Additional Superintendent of Police (Cyber Crime); and Dr. Pawan Thakur, a professor of Computer Education at Government College, Dharamshala. The campaign successfully engaged around 500 students, marking a significant first step towards fostering a digitally literate society in the Kangra division.

'Sachetan' sets a precedent for digital literacy programs, aiming not only to educate but also to safeguard the community against the potential pitfalls of the digital world. Through this campaign, Kangra division is set on a path to become a model of digital empowerment and safety, ensuring its citizens are well-versed in the digital domain.
