Rs 90 Cr released to registered construction workers through DBT: Balbir Singh Sidhu

Chandigarh: On the directive of Chief Minister Punjab Captain Amarinder Singh, Department of Labour today released 2nd installment of interim relief of Rs.90 cr. to registered workers. Rs.3000 each in the saving bank accounts of 2,82,576 registered construction workers has been transferred through DBT.
Disclosing this here today, Labour & Health Minister Mr.Balbir Singh Sidhu said that the Corona Virus disease (COVID-19) has gripped the whole world including our country. Therefore, the construction workers will have to stay at home without work and wages. The survival of construction workers and their family members is at stake if they do not get work and wages. He said that the considering the nature of work of construction workers as they are unable to work from home during curfew restrictions, the Punjab Government is providing the relief to each registered construction worker.
