ROLL BACK VALUE CUT ORDER, GIVE FULL MSP FOR WHEAT
MP DR AMAR SINGH URGES UNION GOVT
Ludhiana: Dr Amar Singh, Member of Parliament from Shri Fatehgarh Sahib constituency, in a letter to the Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Mr Ram Vilas Paswan has demanded a roll back of the Government of India order imposing value cuts for shrivelled and luster loss of wheat during current procurement season and that wheat farmers be given full MSP.
Dr Amar Singh highlighted that the damage caused by unseasonal rainfall well after procurement officially began and the economic damage caused due to national lockdown which had seen farmers income from alternate sources dip significantly. Their sole hope was getting full MSP for their wheat crop.
The MP stated that given how Punjab farmers have always stood up for the country during an hour of need, it was imperative that the Government stand up for them when they need full MSP. He demanded from the Union government that the orders in this regard are annulled and wheat is procured from the Punjab farmers at full MSP.
