Ludhiana, October 14, 2026: A large pothole has developed on the road over a sewer chamber near Mata Rani Chowk in Bhadaur House, close to the Municipal Corporation’s Zone-A main office, posing a serious risk to pedestrians and motorists. Photograph showing the damaged spot covered with a sack have raised questions about the functioning of the Municipal Corporation administration.
Former councillor and senior leader Parminder Mehta said that the presence of such a large pothole on the road right outside the Municipal Corporation office raises serious concerns. Despite the Municipal Commissioner, Mayor and senior officials passing through this road daily, the negligence of the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Department continues to pose a threat to the safety of the general public and motorists.
He said that instead of covering the pothole with a sack, the O&M Department of Zone-A should ensure proper repairs. Officials must take immediate action rather than wait for a major accident to occur. The Municipal Corporation’s responsibility is to provide safe roads to the public, not to ignore problems.
The pothole on the road poses a constant risk of accidents. The concerned authorities have therefore been urged to inspect the site and carry out permanent repairs at the earliest to prevent any untoward incident.
