Rohtak District Administration Aims to Turn ITI Students into Entrepreneurs: DC Sachin Gupta

Rohtak, January 30, 2026: Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta said that the district administration’s objective is to ensure that students of Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) become job creators rather than job seekers. He emphasized that students must be trained in accordance with current market demands so that they are capable of earning sustainable livelihoods after completing their courses.

The Deputy Commissioner was chairing a meeting of officials from the Municipal Corporation and Principals of Government Industrial Training Institutes at the auditorium of the Mini Secretariat. He directed principals to provide strong practical exposure to students to make them industry-ready. He also asked them to coordinate with MDU, Rohtak and assist interested students in obtaining admission to the Directorate of Distance Education for pursuing higher studies.

He further instructed officials to spread awareness about vocational education in nearby government and private schools. The purpose of vocational training, he said, is to ensure that students attain full proficiency in their trades during the course of their studies and are well-equipped to earn a livelihood in the open market. Necessary directions were also issued regarding placement support for trainees after completion of their training. Principals were advised to ensure optimum utilization of libraries and to motivate students to prepare for competitive examinations by studying there.

Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta also stressed the need to involve ITI students in cleanliness drives being conducted by Municipal Corporations and Municipal Councils so as to enhance public participation. He directed that three to four cleanliness-related activities should be organized every month in each institute and citizens should be encouraged to actively take part. Students participating in these campaigns will be awarded certificates of appreciation by the district administration. The District Informatics Officer was instructed to assist ITIs in developing their websites and in creating essential digital links.

He further asked ITI Principals to coordinate with the Municipal Corporation and the Transport Department for apprenticeship opportunities for students of mechanical trades. Students should also be taken on exposure visits to municipal bodies to acquaint them with the functioning of waste-processing machines and municipal vehicles.

The Deputy Commissioner noted that libraries are available in the Rohtak Municipal Corporation as well as in the municipal bodies of Meham, Sampla and Kalanaur, and urged students to make maximum use of these facilities.

Joint Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation Manjeet Singh, District Informatics Officer Mahesh Bhardwaj, Chief Minister’s Good Governance Associate Tanumay Dutta, Executive Engineer Manjeet Dahiya, other concerned officials, and principals and officers of the Industrial Training Institutes were present on the occasion.
