Rohtak Administration Launches Mental Health Helpline to Support Citizens; DC Sachin Gupta urges to “Choose Solutions, Not Stress.”
In a significant step towards strengthening public health services, Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta announced the launch of a Mental Health Helpline by the district administration to support citizens dealing with stress and psychological concerns.
Rohtak, March 22, 2026: In a significant step towards strengthening public health services, Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta announced the launch of a Mental Health Helpline by the district administration to support citizens dealing with stress and psychological concerns.
The helpline has been started at the Psychiatry and De-addiction Centre, Civil Hospital, Rohtak, with the objective of providing accessible, confidential and professional mental health support.
Citizens can contact the helpline at 8295474838 from Monday to Saturday (9:00 AM to 3:00 PM). In addition, the Government of India’s Tele-MANAS helpline (14416) is available 24×7 throughout the week.
The Deputy Commissioner informed that calls received on the helpline will be attended by qualified psychiatrists and trained counselors and citizens will receive immediate guidance, counselling and treatment support. The services are available for individuals experiencing stress, anxiety, insomnia, depression or emotional distress.
He encouraged citizens to seek help without hesitation or stigma, emphasizing that mental health is as important as physical health. Highlighting the importance of the initiative, the Deputy Commissioner stated that rapid lifestyle changes, increasing competition, work pressure, financial stress, excessive screen time and social isolation are contributing to rising mental health challenges.
If left unaddressed, prolonged stress can lead to - Anxiety and depression, Irritability and panic disorders, Sleep disturbances (insomnia), Loss of confidence, Serious physical conditions such as hypertension, heart disease and digestive disorders and Risk of substance abuse.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that social stigma and myths around mental health often prevent individuals from seeking timely help. The helpline aims to promote awareness and openness, encourage early intervention and provide a safe and confidential support system.
Citizens were also advised to adopt healthy lifestyle practices:
• Regular yoga, meditation and pranayama
• At least 30 minutes of daily physical activity
• Balanced diet and adequate sleep (7–8 hours)
• Reduced screen time
• Positive thinking and time management
• Sharing emotions instead of suppressing them
Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta said that Citizens should choose solutions, not stress. This helpline is a step towards ensuring that no one faces mental health challenges alone.
