Chandigarh, April 13, 2017: BJP National Secretary Tarun Chugh today urged Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and Power Minister Rana Gurjit Singh to withdraw the decision to discontinue free power to Gaushalas in the state.

Chugh said that the Congress government has hurt the sentiments of lakhs of Gau Bhakts with its decision.

He said that 472 Gaushalas in the state of Punjab were getting free power as announced by the SAD-BJP government.

The BJP leader said that Gaushalas were managed by the religious minded people of Punjab with the help of Social Organisations and with the contribution made by charitable institutions and common people.

Chugh said that the Congress government which had continued the schemes launched by SAD-BJP government had discontinued the scheme to provide free power to Gaushalas even as it has decided to continue free power to farmers, SCs and OBcs which was not in the right spirit. He called upon the government to review its decision.

He claimed that the SAD-BJP government had made a provision of Rs.4.72 crore in the annual budget of 2016-17.

Chugh urged the Chief Minister and the Power Minister to ask PSPCL not to bill Gaushalas and withdraw the bills already sent to various Gaushalas.

He also urged the managements of all the 472 Gaushalas not to pay the electricity bills served on them as the SAD-BJP government had made a provision regarding free power.
