Residents Cry Foul Over Neglect and Exploitation in Ansal Town, Jagadhri

Jagadhri, October 14, 2025: Residents of Ansal Town, Sector-20, Jagadhri, are up in arms over what they describe as “pathetic living conditions” and alleged harassment by the township’s maintenance agency, SEMS (Sunrise Estate Management Services), a subsidiary of Ansal Housing & Construction Ltd.

According to local resident N.K. Dhiman, despite paying hefty maintenance charges, the residents have been left to fend for themselves as no visible maintenance work has been carried out in the area over the period. The internal roads of the township are full of deep potholes and broken patches, making commuting difficult, particularly during the rainy season. Many manholes remain uncovered, posing a serious threat to pedestrians and motorists alike.

“Residents are compelled to pay exorbitant maintenance charges, yet the conditions here resemble an abandoned colony,” said Dhiman. “We have repeatedly approached the maintenance agency to repair the roads and fill the potholes, but instead of providing relief, they have demanded ₹92,000 from each resident for road reconstruction. They even threaten that no No-Objection Certificate (NOC) will be issued for sale or purchase of property unless this amount is paid.”

Facing continuous neglect and alleged coercion, several residents have been forced to pool their own money, spending around ₹25,000 to ₹30,000 each to get the damaged roads repaired privately. Residents claim they have made multiple appeals to higher authorities to intervene and stop this harassment, but their complaints have yielded no response so far.

The residents now urge the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) and local civic administration to take immediate action against the maintenance agency and ensure that basic infrastructure and civic amenities are restored in Ansal Town.

“After paying maintenance charges, we should not be forced to rebuild roads ourselves,” said resident. “We just want fair treatment and accountability.”

The situation has left the residents frustrated and disillusioned, as they continue to live amidst broken roads, open manholes, and an administration that appears indifferent to their plight.
