Chandigarh, February 6, 2025: Renowned Tibetan Buddhist spiritual leader His Eminence Choekyong Palga Rinpoche today spoke on the theme "Role of Youth in Nation Building" at an interactive session at the Law Auditorium in Panjab University. 

The session was organised by the PU Dean Students Welfare in collaboration with Ladakh Phanday Tsogspa and Jammu Kashmir Study Centre, both NGOs addressing issues of concern to Ladakh. His Eminence Choekyong Palga Rinpoche is considered the eighth incarnation in the Drukpa lineage and popularly known as the Monk who sold his Maserati. 

Choekyong Palga Rinpoche advised students to lead a life of discipline and mindfulness in order to overcome the ills of depression, anxiety and overthinking. He stressed that only strong individuals could contribute to nation building. 

Speaking on the occasion, the Guest of Honour Prof Kuldeep Agnihotri dwelled on the importance of Buddhist philosophy in present times. 

The PU Vice Chancellor Prof Renu Vig delivered the presidential Address in which she lauded the event for setting a new trend by moving beyond academics and focusing on nurturing a healthy value system. She urged students to pay heed to the advise of the learned speaker. 

The event was attended by students from the University as well as its affiliated colleges and several families belonging to Ladakh.
