Dharamshala, October 26, 2026: Dharamshala MLA and senior BJP leader Sudhir Sharma on Monday launched a sharp attack on the Congress over alleged inappropriate remarks by party president Mallikarjun Kharge concerning the parents of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling the comments a reflection of the party’s political desperation and demanding an immediate apology.
Sharma alleged that the Congress, having failed to raise substantive public issues, was resorting to personal attacks to remain in the political spotlight. He said such remarks were unbecoming of a national political party and violated the basic norms of political discourse.
Referring to a video purportedly showing empty chairs in the auditorium where Kharge was addressing the gathering, Sharma said the scene reflected the Congress’s declining political fortunes. He questioned the party’s ability to connect with the public, arguing that the lack of an audience at an event addressed by its national president highlighted its difficult political position.
The BJP leader further alleged that Congress leaders were targeting Prime Minister Modi and other senior BJP leaders with personal remarks instead of engaging in constructive debate on issues concerning the people.
Sharma said comments involving the Prime Minister’s parents crossed the boundaries of political decency. He demanded that Kharge take responsibility for his remarks and issue an unconditional apology to Prime Minister Modi.
Concluding his attack, Sharma claimed that the Congress had lost public confidence and asserted that voters would reject what he described as its politics of personal attacks.
