Jalandhar. August 21, 2019: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, organized National Senior Citizen Day in collaboration with Fly Udaan Zindagi Ki Trust.

The function commenced with the lighting of the holy lamp by KMV Principal Prof.(Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi. She welcomed all the esteemed guests, faculty, students and their elders who were especially invited by the college to be a part of this celebration.

Dr Sushma Chawla, Vice President, KMV Managing Committee, Dr Satpal Gupta, Member, KMV Managing Committee also graced the occasion.

The event was organized to make the students aware about the importance of the elders in their life and to give them the due respect. The students also acknowledged the contribution and achievements of the seniors to the society and took this opportunity to make the elders aware of their privileges and the rights as the esteemed members of the society. Students also presented cultural program during the function and displayed their talent.

A song performance by Kiranjeet (Indian Idol Contestant) mesmerized the audience, whereas a special dance performance by Dr Sushma Chawla also enthralled the audience during the celebrations. Simerjeet Singh, International motivational speaker motivated the students with his talk. Energetic and enthusiastic Ramp Walk was also done by senior citizens in front of the students.

ML Sharma performed a solo song on the event. Sarang Vick-E also performed a solo song during the occasion.

Principal Prof.(Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that the senior citizens are the most valuable component of our society and in today's world, the need for the guidance and direction from the elders are most required as one can learn an umpteen amount of knowledge from their experiences. She further maintained that the young generation especially the students should make a commitment to respect, value & regard the elders in the society & should always be ready to serve them in any situation & senior citizens should keep on contributing to the society without bothering what they will get in return. She lauded the efforts of Dr Madhumeet, Dr Manju Sahni and Rashmi Sharma for successfully organizing the function.
