Chandigarh: University Institute of Applied Management Sciences organised a webinar today on “Union Budget 2021-22”. 
Dr. Nishi Sharma, Associate Professor, UIAMS appraised that paperless budget of 2021-22 is very much crucial as this year Government of India has a formidable task to achieve a fine balance between addressing economic meltdown and maintaining deficit.

Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor Panjab University, said that the budget 2021-22 emphasises upon strengthening not only manufacturing, financial, health care & digitalization in India but also provides huge opportunity in the education sector. He acknowledged that after the celebration of International Women’s Day, the discussion on Union Budget 2021-22 at Panjab University has been initiated by a woman economist. Prof. Raj Kumar appraised that in addition to giving a strong push to the Indian economy, the budget reforms will strengthen the Atmanirbhar Bharat. 

Prof. V. R. Sinha, Dean of University Instructions, Panjab University, said that in view of unprecedented pandemic and its impact on the economy, it’s really very crucial to understand how various budgetary provisions are going to affect our lives.
Dr. Geethanjali Natraj, Director, Research and Policy, SPEC told about a series of far-reaching tax as well as non-tax reforms of budget, aimed at energizing the Indian economy. She illustrated how the budgetary provisions are providing immense opportunities for the sustainable development of Indian economy. Dr Natraj said that the budget 21-22 is incremental in nature and focuses on right areas such as infrastructure, health and sanitation, manufacturing which will encourage private investment and revive growth. The budget tries to give as much momentum as possible. Dr. Natraj was pretty confident about the efficacy of budget and said that it will remove anomalies and challenges, which impedes the Make in India policy.She said that the government has focused on increasing expenditure to ensure that the economy picks up. More than 220 delegates benefitted the deliberation.

AROUND 20500 STUDENTS TOOK ONLINE EXAM BY PU, TODAY
Chandigarh: Dr. Jagat Bhushan, Controller of Examination, Panjab University informed that around 20500 students of Undergraduate/Postgraduate/Other Professional Courses including USOL/Private have appeared today  in online examination being conducted by Panjab University. He informed that total exams in Slot 1 and Slot 2 were 17 and 24 respectively. 

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY CELEBRATIONS 
Chandigarh: National Service Scheme (NSS) in collaboration with Department of Computer Science and Applications, Panjab university, Chandigarh celebrated “International Women’s day” on March 8, 2021 by organizing an online event which comprised of a special Talk on “Right of Women as per Criminal Laws and Labor Laws” by Advocate Palak Gupta. 
Advocate Palak Gupta is doing practice in Supreme Court of India, Panjab and Haryana, Bombay and Delhi High Courts.  She delivered an excellent talk on the subject, making people aware of the Criminal and Labor Laws thus addressing women’s safety. 
Dr. Anuj Kumar, coordinator of the event insisted that such activities are essential at the University level, to make the younger generation be aware of their rights and safety. 
The Chairperson, Mrs Jasleen Kaur Bains appreciated the efforts of organizing team.  Active student participation showed their keenness towards this sensitive issue. Student coordinators Shakti Kumar, Silky and Bhuvan Thakur also contributed to the activity.
