Nilokheri, April 21, 2026: Community radio plays a pivotal role in heightening public awareness regarding issues related to the state's cultural identity and development. Periodic enhancements are essential to make 'Ram-Ram Haryana'—a radio program operated by the Haryana Institute of Rural Development (HIRD)—even more effective, engaging, and beneficial to the public. These views were shared by the HIRD Director, Dr. Virender Singh Chauhan, while presiding over a workshop attended by community radio operators from across the state.
During a meeting convened to address various facets of the 'Ram-Ram Haryana' radio program, detailed discussions were held on strategies to enhance its impact, resolve current operational challenges, and streamline its overall functioning. The meeting was attended by representatives from various community radio stations, including Dr. Manmohan Singh from Sanjha Radio Yamunanagar; Rajpal Panchal from Irada Radio Thanesar; Bharat Sopori from Radio Vitasta 90.0; and Jitesh Poswal from Radio NGF. Representing HIRD were Assistant Professors Sushil Mehta, Sandeep Kumar, and Kamaldeep Sangwan, alongside Senior Advisor Gurbinder Singh from the Department of Rural Development.
During the workshop, deliberations were also held regarding potential adjustments to the broadcast schedule of the 'Ram-Ram Haryana' program. Currently, the program airs from 9:00 AM to 9:30 AM; however, possibilities for altering this timing were discussed with the aim of enhancing listener convenience and participation. Consequently, a decision was taken to extend the program's duration to one hour, effective April 29. From that date onwards, the program will be broadcast in the evening slot, from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
Furthermore, suggestions were put forth regarding other critical aspects, such as aligning the program's content more closely with public concerns, improving technical production quality, and actively incorporating listener feedback. Sharing their respective experiences, all participants emphasized the need to expand the program's reach, prioritize local issues, and—through improved coordination—further enhance its popularity across the entire state.
In conclusion, Director Dr. Virendra Singh Chauhan assured that all suggestions would be implemented with utmost seriousness, stating that the institute's priority is to convey messages of public awareness and development to every household through community radio. He expressed his gratitude to all the participants.
