Rakhi Mela organised at Home Science College

Chandigarh, August 11, 2022: One-day Rakhi Mela was Organised at Government Home Science College, Sec. 10, Chandigarh by Department of Arts and Placement Cell today. 

The main objective was to provide a platform to the students to exhibit and sell Rakhis specially prepared for the festival of Rakshabandhan by the students.  The budding entrepreneurs of the college displayed innovative rakhis varying from elegant yet simple threads to ornate one’s studded with pearls and stones. The price range varied from Rs.10 to Rs.100. The main attraction of this Mela was Rakhis for kids and baju bandh (armlets) for sister-in law.  The stalls attracted a huge footfall. The students putting up the stalls witnessed a heavy rush with various staff members crowding stalls to pick from an array of eye catching designer Rakhis.

Principal Prof Sudha Katyal appreciated the efforts of students and mentors and said that such exhibitions are consistently encouraged in the college to give opportunity to students to earn while they learn.
