Ludhiana, July 13, 2022: Rajya Sabha Member Sanjeev Arora was honored with the 'Son of Ludhiana' award by prominent intellectuals of the city at a function held here yesterday. Today, he expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all the prominent intellectuals for being honoured with this award. He said that he is proud to have received this award.

He said that he is completely dedicated to the people of Ludhiana over the years and is doing various social works at his level. But, now that he has been honored with the award of 'Son of Ludhiana', therefore, he will intensify the ongoing social work with more vigor.

He further said that the honor accorded to him will prove to be a role model for others who are interested in social service like him and are willing to serve the suffering humanity.

Sanjeev Arora was honored by eminent economist and former chancellor Padma Bhushan Dr S S Johal, eminent poet and Padma Shri Dr Surjit Patar, eminent poet Professor Gurbhajan Gill, Sikh scholar Professor Anurag Singh, international writer and nature artist Harpreet Sandhu, Chief Principal Secretary, IT, Government of India, Praneet Sachdev. They said that the people of Punjab have high hopes from Sanjeev Arora.

While presenting award to Arora, all veterans including Dr. Johal, Dr. Patar and Prof. Gurbhajan Gill, also remembered Arora's late father Pran Arora.

It may be mentioned here that Sanjeev Arora is a successful businessman and industrialist as well as a well-known social worker. A charitable trust named "Krishna Pran Breast Cancer Charitable Trust" is being run by him . This Trust, named after his parents, has provided free treatment to more than 160 cancer patients. He is also on the Governing Board of Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana and other social organisations.

Prior to the award ceremony, Sanjeev Arora was the chief guest at the launch of Trees of Joy, a plantation drive organised by real estate company Advance India Projects Limited (AIPL). Speaking on the occasion, he said that it is heartening to see that at present, real estate companies are coming up with buildings which are certified as Green Buildings. These buildings are considered to be eco-friendly. He said that green buildings play a special role in saving energy and maintaining the environment. He said that this issue is also on the agenda of the newly formed AAP government in Punjab as the government is completely serious about the protection of the environment.

On this occasion, Arora, while giving detailed information on the importance of trees, said that trees not only make the whole environment green and pure, but also provide oxygen. Trees also help in keeping the hot environment cool. Trees play an important role in the health of human life. Apart from this, trees have an important role in wildlife such as birds make nests on trees and bees stay in the hive. He said that trees also contribute a lot to the community. It is often seen that Panchayats are held under trees and children also play in the shade of trees. He said that in a study it has also come to the fore that if a patient sees greenery from the window during treatment, then he gets positive vibes, due to which he can recover soon. AIPL Executive Director Daljit Singh was also present on the occasion.
