Rail Coach Factory sends 1210 kg liquid Oxygen to Guru Nanak Medical College and Hospital, Amritsar

Oxygen demand in the country has increased drastically in the midst of growing crisis of Corona epidemic. There have been reports of lack of oxygen from many hospitals. In this difficult time, Rail Coach Factory Kapurthala has supplied 1210 kg of liquid oxygen from its oxygen plant to Guru Nanak Medical College and Hospital, Amritsar in view of  increasing demand for oxygen. It has been sent to the Amritsar Hospital as medical oxygen through a gas supplying firm.

Supply of this liquid oxygen though will have some effect on RCF’s coach production, but this supply will prove to be helpful to deal with the emergency needs of Corona patients. RCF has a three kilo litre liquid oxygen storage tank which is used to make argomix which Is used in the manufacture of stainless steel components.

On the instructions of Railway Minister Shri Piyush Goyal, Indian Railways has taken several steps to overcome the shortage of oxygen in the midst of Corona crisis. Railways is running Oxygen Express trains to carry liquid medical oxygen and oxygen cylinders. For speedy movement, the Railways has decided to build a green corridor for these special trains which has resulted in quick supply of oxygen in the several parts of country. /(Rajat Kumar, Jalandhar)
