New Delhi/Chandigarh, July 5, 2025: Virat Kant, a young social worker and youth leader, joined the Bharatiya Janta Party today in a program organized at the Delhi residence of BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh. The joining took place in the presence of Punjab BJP President Sunil Jakhar and Tarun Chugh.

Virat Kant belongs to a legacy of freedom fighters and leaders. He is the grandson of former Vice President of India Krishna Kant, a fierce voice against the Emergency imposed by Indira Gandhi, and the great-grandson of Achintram, a two-time MP from Punjab, renowned as the “Gandhi of Punjab” for his simplicity and sacrifice.

On joining the BJP, Virat Kant said, “Prime Minister Modi’s 11-year journey of transforming India from a fragile state to a rising global power is what inspired me. I feel honoured to contribute to the mission of ‘Viksit Bharat’ and thank the party leadership for this opportunity.”
