A delegation of Punjab Unaided Technical Institutions Association (PUTIA) meets the Union Minister, Vijay Sampla.

Chandigarh, February 9, 2015: A delegation of Punjab Unaided Technical Institutions Association (PUTIA) met with the Union Minister, Vijay Sampla under the leadership of President, PUTIA, Dr.J.S Dhaliwal and Vice President, PUTIA, Dr Anshu Kataria at PHD Chamber, Chandigarh.

The delegation presented him the memorandum and requested him for the release of balance fee of SC/ST scholarship in Punjab and demanded him the release of OBC payment which is not being paid yet.

Vijay Sampla while addressing the PUTIA members said that  this is for the first time that he could manage to get SC/ST payment released from the centre Government for 2014-2015 well in time. He further assured that he’ll try his level best to release the balance payment for SC/ST students to provide financial assistance to the students, parents and to the educational institutions.

While assuring the PUTIA members he said,” I will talk to the centre Government about the release of OBC payment to avoid further delay”. He further said that as a large number of OBC students are studying in Technical institutes of Punjab and Centre Govt. would ensure timely payment under such schemes.

While speaking on the occasion President, PUTIA, Dr. J.S Dhaliwal said that more than 400 Unaided Technical Institutions of Punjab and students are facing hardship due to delay in the release of funds. He further added that private colleges of Punjab are awaiting reimbursement of fees of OBC students, but the state government has not released funds since last many years.

Vice President, PUTIA, Dr. Anshu Kataria said Punjab Unaided Colleges are in Dilemma as the management is in massive confusion over OBC Scholarship. Kataria added,” We cannot deny admission to SC/ST/OBC students. But at the same time we need funds to run our institutions." District administration asks not to charge anything from SC/ST/OBC but Punjab does not release the payment on time due to which institutions are facing financial crisis.”
