Punjab State Commission for Minorities Chairman reaffirms commitment to protect and empower minority communities
The Punjab State Commission for Minorities Chairman Jatinder Masih Gaurav reiterated his firm dedication to safeguarding the rights, welfare, and overall well-being of minority communities including Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis, and others.
Ludhiana, February 12, 2026: The Punjab State Commission for Minorities Chairman Jatinder Masih Gaurav reiterated his firm dedication to safeguarding the rights, welfare, and overall well-being of minority communities including Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis, and others.
Presiding over a grievance redressal meeting where community members directly presented their concerns and complaints, Chairman Jatinder Masih Gaurav underlined that the commission is here to defend the constitutional rights of minorities and to ensure their voices are heard at the highest level. He highlighted valuable contributions that minority communities have made to the social harmony, cultural richness, and economic strength of both Punjab and the nation as a whole.
During the open hearing, a large number of grievances were placed before the Commission. The most frequently raised issues concerned illegal encroachment on lands and properties, difficulties being faced in the maintenance and protection of Christian cemeteries and Muslim kabristans, and problems related to bank loans and other forms of issues.
Taking serious note of these matters, Chairman Jatinder Masih Gaurav gave clear and strict instructions to the district administration officers present in the meeting. He directed them to investigate each complaint thoroughly and to ensure complete resolution of all issues raised during the session within 15- days. A detailed report on the action taken in every case must be submitted to the Commission without fail.
On the arrival of the Chairman, a guard of honour was also accorded by the district administration.
