Chandigarh, April 4:
To give a loud and clear message of the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to anti-social elements that they have no place in the state, Punjab Police on Tuesday conducted a special operation at all the bus stands across the state for searching and rounding-up suspicious persons for their verification. The operation was conducted on the directions of Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav.
Over 5000 Police Personnel under the supervision of Superintendents of Police (SPs) were involved to frisk the people at the bus stands in the state, while ensuring minimum inconvenience to them. Over 2000 people were checked during the operation conducted at 150+ bus stands in the state.
The operation was conducted in a synchronised manner from 4pm to 6pm across the state and CPs/SSPs were asked to personally monitor the operation and mobilise a maximum number of officers and manpower to conduct this operation.
Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Law and Order Arpit Shukla said that SP rank officers were deputed to conduct frisking of people at Bus Stands. “We had strictly instructed all the Police Personnel to deal with every person in a friendly and polite manner while frisking them during the course of this operation,” he added.
He said that such operations would continue to make Punjab a safe, secure and drug-free state. These types of operations are also part of the basic policing which includes keeping vigil in vulnerable spots and advance preparation to tackle any untoward situation, he added.
Meanwhile, such operations will also help in showing the police presence in the field and boost confidence among common people.
