Punjab News- Election Commission launches ‘be responsible -become a voter’ campaign to register voters

Chandigarh, September 25, 2013: Election Commission of India has launched a campaign under the name of ‘Be Responsible -Become a Voter’ to make votes of all persons of 18 year or above on 01.01.2014.

Divulging this here today Spokesperson of Chief Electoral Officer Punjab said that Summary Revision in the Electoral Rolls will take place between 6th September & 4th October 2013 in the state.

He said that for new vote application should fill Form 6, overseas voters may file application in Form 6 A and If anybody want a vote deleted, can file an objection in Form 7. He added that for any correction in voter list or voter card should fill application Form 8 and If anybody wants to change address within the constituency, should submit application in Form 8A.

Spokesperson said that form can be submitted to District Election Office, Electoral Registration Officer or Booth Level Officer from 06.09.2013 to 04.10.2013.

He said that Booth Level Officer will be present to receive the form on 15.09.2013, 22.09.2013 & 29.09.2013 at respective polling station.

Spokesperson further issuing a caution said that Registration as a voter in two places is an Offence under R.P. Act 1950.

He said that Election Commission has also launched a scheme SMS scheme to check particulars & polling station details through SMS by using the following SMS format. SMSPJB <SPACE> IDCARDNO and send the SMS to 09216164605. Election Commission has also launched a toll free number 1950 for any queries regarding registration of votes.
