Punjab Govt in ICU, Centre Indifferent; Brahmpura Distributes Relief to Flood Victims from Personal Funds
Says farmers' accounts remain empty despite visits by Union Minister & Governor, decries discrimination against Punjab

Tarn Taran, September 06, 2025: Disappointed by the complete failure of Punjab's 'AAP' government and the apathy of the Central Government, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Vice President, Khadoor Sahib constituency in-charge, and former MLA, Ravinder Singh Brahmpura, has stepped forward to lead relief efforts. Continuing his personal initiative to help victims from his own earnings, Brahmpura today distributed flour to 150 needy families in Dhunda village and arranged for 60 quintals of green fodder for cattle in Sri Goindwal Sahib.
Speaking to reporters on the occasion, Brahmpura stated, "This service has become necessary because the people of Punjab have been completely abandoned. The Chief Minister is in the hospital, and while we pray for his speedy recovery, the question arises whether the entire government has gone into the ICU? There is no one to make decisions, and the people are left to God's mercy."
Expressing deep resentment over the Central Government's attitude, he said, "We had expectations from the Centre. The floods were declared a 'severe natural calamity,' and Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Governor Gulab Chand Kataria personally visited and gave assurances. However, despite the long passage of time, not a single rupee has reached the farmers' accounts. This is blatant discrimination against Punjab, which will not be tolerated."
Brahmpura strongly demanded that he would soon write a detailed letter to the Central Government to remind them of their promises. He added, "We demand that a compensation of Rs 50,000 per acre be directly deposited into the accounts of the affected farmers. Additionally, special funds should be released under the Border Area Development Programme (BADP) for flood prevention." He asserted that Sukhbir Singh Badal is the one truly serving the people, and under his guidance, the Akali Dal will continue its struggle for the rights of the victims.
Present on this occasion were senior Akali leaders Viz., Kuldeep Singh Aulakh, Kuldeep Singh Lahoria, Kanwardeep Singh Brahmpura (Youth Leader), Jagtar Singh Dhunda, Amrik Singh Chohla Sahib, Balkar Singh Dhunda, Baba Lakha Singh Dhunda, Gurdev Singh Shabdi, Jagroop Singh Pakhopura, Kulwinder Singh Chohla Khurd, Manpreet Singh Shally, Varinder Jyoti, Tarsem Singh, Harjinder Singh Fauji, Samman Lahoria, Balkar Singh Bara, and others.
