Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria on Sunday honoured 18 youngsters, who cleared the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination for the year 2024-25 through the Sankalp initiative describing them as pride of Punjab.

Ludhiana, July 6, 2025: Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria on Sunday honoured 18 youngsters, who cleared the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination for the year 2024-25 through the Sankalp initiative describing them as pride of Punjab.


While presiding over the function held at Bharat Vikas Parishad Charitable Trust, the  Governor congratulated these youngsters and exhorted them to deliver their duties in larger public interest with utmost dedication and professional commitment. He stated that as many as 1009 candidates cleared the UPSC examination in 2024-25, of which 721 were from the Sankalp initiative while 18 in these are from Punjab. He said this was a matter of great pride for Punjab that youngsters are set to serve the nation and states. He said that these youngsters had made Punjab proud and wished that they would  achieve laurels in future too by discharging their duties with diligence. 


Underlining the significance of civil services, Governor Gulab Chand Kataria further stated that the youngsters after joining civil services play a pivotal role in the social and administrative transformation as and when needed. He pointed out that the civil servants were responsible for executing policies,  programs, welfare schemes and decisions in larger public interest being taken by the Government at Centre and in states.  He said they were also a strong bridge between the government and the common people. He  urged the youngsters, who have cleared UPSC examination, to serve the nation with a spirit of public service besides contributing significantly to the nation’s all round  development.

Earlier, the Governor also laid the foundation stone for a Dialysis Centre as well as inaugurated the Kaaya Kalp Centre at the Bharat Vikas Charitable Trust. He mentioned that the dialysis is an expensive procedure, which could not be afford by everyone. He also lauded the organisation for providing service free of cost. The Governor also highlighted the importance of Ayurved’s Panch Karma terming it also an efficacious process for body. 

Referring to magnificent history of the country, the Governor said the sacrifices made by Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and the family of Guru Gobind Singh Ji for the nation are unmatched, which could never be overlooked. He stressed that people especially the youth should be well aware of Punjab’s glorious history and rich heritage.

On this occasion Governor’s Principal Secretary Vivek Pratap Singh, DIG Nilambari Jagdale, Sankalp Patron Santosh Taneja, Chairman Narinder Mittal, President Davinder Gupta, Trust Chairman Pankaj Jindal, Secretary Rajesh Nauria, Finance Secretary Sunita Jaitley, Avon Cycles Chairman Omkar Singh Pahwa, Former Chief Secretary Sarvesh Kaushal and others were also present.
