Chandigarh, March 30, 2026: Former Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab and MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa expressed concern and raised serious questions about the state of affairs in Punjab. In a shocking incident in a rural area of Amritsar, a 35-year-old man was shot dead in broad daylight, and at the same time, a blast occurred in a Police Station Bhindi Saidhan, Raja Sansi, Amritsar. Even police stations are no longer safe under the state government. After these alarming incidents, it appears that law and order has completely collapsed.
He said that criminals are carrying out crimes fearlessly, while innocent lives are being lost. This failure cannot be ignored. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann must take responsibility and resign from his position as Home Minister.
Randhawa said the deteriorating law and order situation can be gauged from the fact that two murders are happening in a single day. One of the victims was delivery boy Arvinder Singh Bablu, who had been missing for two days, and his mutilated body was found in a basement on Ranjit Avenue. The second incident involved 35-year-old Sohna Singh from the village of Rajtal in Amritsar, who was shot dead. These incidents indicate that criminals no longer fear the police.
He stated that under the Aam Aadmi Party government, active leaders of opposition parties are being targeted. In the last six months, three active Congress block presidents have been brutally murdered. On 3 September 2025, Gurmel Singh Tut, block president from Patti in Tarn Taran district, was shot dead in broad daylight. He had been actively working with the Congress for 25 years.
A month later, Baljinder Singh Dala, block president from Moga, was shot dead; he was also a highly active Congress leader. Recently, Paraminder Tiwari, Congress block president from Machhiwara Sahib, was brutally killed with an axe. These targeted attacks on active Congress leaders and workers highlight the government’s failure to maintain law and order.
Former Deputy CM Randhawa pointed out that the Home Ministry of Punjab is held by CM Bhagwant Singh Mann himself. He has completely failed in maintaining law and order. This shows how serious and concerned he is about the ongoing bloodshed in Punjab. Randhawa said gangsters no longer fear the government or police, while the state’s citizens are forced to live in fear and anxiety. Since CM Mann cannot provide a safe environment for the people, he should resign from his post.
