Punjab becomes first state to provide facility of easy registry to people: CM

Another unique initiative aimed at revenue reforms

Fatehgarh Sahib, November 27, 2025: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Thursday launched another revolutionary initiative in form of “Easy Registry” to facilitate the people across the state.

The Chief Minister welcomed all the people who witnessed the beginning of this historic transformation aimed at completely eradicating corruption and ensuring transparent governance. He said that for decades, property registration has been considered a complicated and time-consuming process often requiring repeated visits to Sub-Registrar offices and facing delays and corruption. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that people had to visit the Sub-Registrar office corresponding to the location of their property, which added extra burden and inconvenience.

However, the Chief Minister said that now, with the “Easy Registry” system, property registration in Punjab has entered a new era of simplicity, speed, and transparency. He said that the “Easy Registry” system will eliminate unnecessary delays and hardships for citizens adding that this is the first time in India that any state has taken such a step toward simplifying property registration. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that under this initiative, any Sub-Registrar office within a district will be able to register properties located anywhere in that particular district.

The Chief Minister said that Citizens can now draft sale deeds online or through Sewa Kendras by paying a nominal fee of Rs 500 adding that as a part of the “Sarkar Tuhade Dwaar” scheme, people can call 1076 to avail this service. He said that Complete online submission of documents will be possible within just 48 hours adding that Tehsildar will no longer be able to raise unnecessary objections to property registrations. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that fixed time frame of 48 hours will be given for this adding that if any objection is raised, it will immediately be referred to the concerned Deputy Commissioner, who will verify whether the objection is genuine or not.

The Chief Minister further said that Citizens will receive updates about every stage of their registration process via WhatsApp and if anyone demands a bribe, a complaint can be lodged directly through WhatsApp. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that it gives him immense pride to share that now Deputy Commissioners will be responsible for ensuring that every property registration is completed smoothly. He said that for this purpose, the Sub-Registrar Office in Mohali has been upgraded with a help desk and a comfortable waiting area.

The Chief Minister said that earlier registration could only be done at the Sub-Registrar office under whose jurisdiction the property was located. He said that people never used to know the status of their registration or any objections raised adding that now WhatsApp notifications will keep them informed at every stage from document submission and approval to payment, objections, and final preparation of papers. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that 48-hour time frame has been fixed for raising objections or verifying documents adding that this system will also reduce the high costs associated with registering deeds.

The Chief Minister said that Through the “Draft My Deed” feature, anyone can write their own registration documents with the help of a Sewa Kendra or Sewa assistant. He said that there will be no need to display separate transaction proofs, thus saving citizens multiple visits to banks. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that people will no longer need to visit government offices repeatedly to collect their registration papers.

The Chief Minister said that once the registration is complete, they will receive confirmation through WhatsApp, ensuring they can collect their deed in a single visit. He said that the state government is continuously working to bring more citizen-friendly reforms and to improve the efficiency of Sewa Kendras and Helpline 1076, so citizens do not have to visit offices unnecessarily for their work. Bhagwant Singh said that this historic milestone in administrative reforms is aimed at facilitating the people in a big way so that they can get the services in a smooth and hassle free manner.
