Chandigarh, December 22, 2025: Panjab University Vice Chancellor Renu Vig today chaired a meeting of department chairpersons and Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) coordinators, urging them to prioritise the timely submission of accurate data required for various national and international rankings.
Addressing the chairpersons and IQAC coordinators of the University Teaching Departments, Prof Vig emphasised that prompt and precise data uploads by faculty members are critical to improving Panjab University’s performance in rankings. She asked all departments to ensure that faculty members upload their academic and professional details within prescribed timelines.
Highlighting student well-being, the Vice-Chancellor directed departments to organise workshops focused on mental health and substance use. She stressed the importance of keeping students meaningfully engaged through academic, cultural, sports and environment-related activities, and called for greater student involvement in campus life.
Prof Vig also advised faculty to remain closely connected with students and alumni, underscoring the need for a robust mentor–mentee system to ensure every student is assigned a faculty mentor. She added that departments must keep students well informed about placement opportunities and career pathways after completing their coursework. Regular interaction among faculty, students and alumni, she said, would help students make informed career choices while strengthening the University’s placement outcomes.
Faculty members were instructed to enter complete details of Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs), refresher courses, orientation programmes and invited talks attended or delivered by them on the IRP portal within stipulated timelines. Departments were similarly asked to update full details of conferences, symposia, FDPs, workshops, seminars and other academic or co-curricular programmes on the IQAC portal. It was also informed that departments would circulate faculty achievement PDFs to individual faculty members for verification at the start of the January and July academic sessions.
The meeting was attended by Dean of University Instruction Yojna Rawat, IQAC Director Sonal Singhal, along with chairpersons and IQAC coordinators of University Teaching Departments.
