PU Teacher Bags Best Paper Award for Cancer Research at Singapore International Conference

Chandigarh, November 12, 2014: Panjab University (PU) Chandigarh, Assistant Professor, Dr Neelima Dhingra has been selected for prestigious International Best Paper Award at 2nd International Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Sciences Conference at Singapore. 

Dr Dhingra is teaching Pharmaceutical Chemistry at University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS) in PU. She delivered a scientific lecture entitled, "Cytotoxicity Studies of 17a-aza D-Homo steroids towards liver and neuroblastoma cancer cell lines" in the conference organised from October 27 to 28. 

The scientific committee of International Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Sciences Conference conferred Best Paper Award to Dr Neelima at the valedictory function.  
Dr Dhingra is working in the area of cancer research as a synthetic medicinal chemist and she identified several steroidal molecules as potential Chemotherarpeutic agents that has strong clinical potential to treat several type of cancers. 

SERB, DST New Delhi has already sanctioned her research grant of Rs 19 lakh under Young Scientist category for her future research endeavour to provide the world with new and highly efficacious chemotherapeutic agents. She had already received another award "Indira Vasudevan Award" for her meritorious research work.
