Chandigarh, November 18, 2018: Panjab University, Chandigarh in its Syndicate meeting held here today deliberated on all the agenda items apart from few Syndicate agenda items dated 10th June and 7th July, 2018.
On the issue of protesting students for opening of girl’s hostels for 24 hours, the Syndicate reiterated the recommendations of the PU committee to strictly adhere to the guidelines mentioned in the University Prospectus.
The Syndicate approved the recommendations of the Board of Finance for the Budget Estimate of Rs. 577.32 crore for the fiscal year 2019-20.
The Syndicate approved the change of assignment to the faculties of 36 members.
The Syndicate accepted the donation of Rs. 1 lakh made by Sh. S.L.Nasa, Managing Trustee, Registrar, Delhi Pharmacy Council, New Delhi against endowment to be named as ‘(Late) Dr. Bhagwan Dass Miglani Gold Medal’to be awarded to the topper of M.Pharm every year during PU Convocation. Another donation of Rs. 5 Lakh which was made by Sh. Vikas Garg, Director Punjab Hammers Private Limited for an endowment to be named as ‘Ch Satya Prakash Ji Scholarship’to be awarded to the topper students of ISSER course. The Syndicate accepted the donation of Rs. 1 lakh by Mrs. Urmila Dass wife of late Prof. B.K.Dass for institution of an endowment in the memory of her revered husband ‘Prof. B.K.Dass Memorial Gold Medal’ to be awarded to the most deserving student in M.Sc final of Geology Department every year during PU Convocation.
The Syndicate fixed last week of March 2019 for the meetings of the faculty for the purpose of elections of various Boards of Studies(Undergraduate and Post Graduate)
The Syndicate approved the minutes of the committee to prepare the department wise roster in consonance with the directions of the UGC for teaching positions i.e. Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Professor.
The Syndicate approved the reservation policy for employment and increasing the reservation from 3% to 4% for the person for benchmark disability as per DOPT directives issued by the Government of India, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pension, Department of Personnel and Training, New Delhi.
