PU Organises ‘Mind Matters at Work’ Workshop for Non-Teaching Staff
Panjab University (PU) Office of the Dean Student Welfare (DSW), in collaboration with the Centre for Social Work (CSW), today organised a specialised workshop for non-teaching staff on “Mind Matters at Work: Building a Supportive University Environment.”
Chandigarh, January 22, 2026: Panjab University (PU) Office of the Dean Student Welfare (DSW), in collaboration with the Centre for Social Work (CSW), today organised a specialised workshop for non-teaching staff on “Mind Matters at Work: Building a Supportive University Environment.”
The session was designed specifically for non-teaching staff and was conducted by Dr. Kamlesh Kumar Sahu from the Department of Psychiatry, Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32. Dr. Sahu highlighted the significance of mental well-being in the workplace and shared practical strategies for managing stress and fostering a supportive and healthy work environment.
Addressing the officials, PU Dean Student Welfare (Women) Prof. Namita Gupta stated that a healthy university ecosystem is built not only on academic excellence but also on the well-being of every individual contributing to its functioning. She emphasised the need for staff members to prioritise mental health to ensure a more productive institutional environment.
PU Centre for Social Work Chairperson Prof. Monica Munjial Singh underlined the importance of promoting dignity, care and mutual respect in the workplace.
The programme was organised under the leadership of Prof. Amit Chauhan, Dean Student Welfare; Prof. Namita Gupta, DSW (Women); and Prof. Monica Munjial Singh, Chairperson, Centre for Social Work. The event was coordinated by University Counsellors Deepti Khipal and Ms. Pulkita Wadhwa.
The workshop concluded with an interactive discussion, during which participants shared perspectives and suggestions aimed at improving workplace well-being.
