PU organises “Joy of Safety – Workshop on Road Safety”
The Centre for Police Administration, Panjab University, Chandigarh, in collaboration with Chandigarh Police, Value Life Foundation and Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Limited, today organised a workshop on road safety titled “Joy of Safety”.
Chandigarh, February 24, 2026: The Centre for Police Administration, Panjab University, Chandigarh, in collaboration with Chandigarh Police, Value Life Foundation and Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Limited, today organised a workshop on road safety titled “Joy of Safety”.
The workshop aimed at promoting awareness among youth regarding responsible road behaviour, accident prevention, and the importance of first responder preparedness.
The team of Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Limited conducted practical demonstrations and training sessions on road safety measures, safe riding practices and emergency response techniques such as first aid techniques, CPR, safe riding practices and community volunteering responsibilities. The interactive sessions provided hands-on learning opportunities to participants and strengthened their understanding of responsible conduct on roads.
Ashutosh Vivek, DGM (Network Development), Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Limited, emphasised the role of responsible industry participation in promoting safe mobility. He encouraged youth to adopt disciplined driving habits and prioritise safety over speed.
Dr. Pravesh Kumari, Incharge, Children Traffic Park, Chandigarh Police, also motivated the students and highlighted the importance of traffic education from an early age. She stressed strict adherence to traffic rules and responsible citizenship as essential elements of accident prevention.
Dr. Kuldeep Singh expressed his gratitude to collaborating organisations and participants for their valuable support. In his address, he enlightened the students about the internationally recognised framework of the 4 E’s of Road Safety — Education, Engineering, Enforcement, and Emergency Care — and emphasised the collective responsibility of all stakeholders in ensuring safer roads. He highlighted that road safety is not merely a regulatory issue but a shared social commitment requiring awareness, discipline and coordinated action.
The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, NCC cadets, faculty members, police personnel, and representatives from collaborating organisations with approximate 80 participants attending the workshop.
Earlier, the workshop began with the floral welcome of the members of Chandigarh Police, Value Life Foundation and Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Limited, by Dr. Kuldeep Singh, Chairman, Centre for Police Administration.
The programme concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Satnam Singh, Guest Faculty, Centre for Police Administration. The other faculty members Dr. Sanjeev Ranjan, Dr. Daljit Kaur and Dr. Shaveta Begra and office staff of the Centre also attended the workshop.
