PU Marks World Health Day with Campus-Wide Walkathon Promoting Fitness and Well-being

The Bhai Ghanaiya Ji Institute of Health, Panjab University (PU), in collaboration with the Department of Physical Education, PU, celebrated World Health Day on April 7, 2026, alongside International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, to promote awareness of the World Health Organization’s theme, “My Health, My Right.”

Chandigarh, April 7, 2026: The Bhai Ghanaiya Ji Institute of Health, Panjab University (PU), in collaboration with the Department of Physical Education, PU, celebrated World Health Day on April 7, 2026, alongside International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, to promote awareness of the World Health Organization’s theme, “My Health, My Right.”
The occasion was marked by a Walk and Run event organised across the Panjab University campus. The event commenced at 6:00 a.m. from the Bhai Ghanaiya Ji Institute of Health and covered the campus area in Sector-14.
Dr. Rupinder Kaur, CMO of the Bhai Ghanaiya Ji Institute of Health, and Prof. Thingnam Nandalal Singh, Chairperson, Department of Physical Education, initiated the activity. They highlighted the importance of early rising and regular physical exercise in reducing non-communicable diseases, improving mental health, and enhancing overall well-being. Participants were encouraged to incorporate physical activity into their daily routine.
The observance highlighted the global significance of April 6 and April 7 as International Day of Sport for Development and Peace and World Health Day.
