DAV University, Jalandhar, organised a two-day workshop on “Beyond the Books: Navigating Library’s e-Resources” on September 29–30, to familiarise faculty members, research scholars and postgraduate students with the effective use of digital library resources and research databases.

Jalandhar, October 2, 2026: DAV University, Jalandhar, organised a two-day workshop on “Beyond the Books: Navigating Library’s e-Resources” on September 29–30, to familiarise faculty members, research scholars and postgraduate students with the effective use of digital library resources and research databases. The workshop was jointly organised by the Knowledge Resource Centre (KRC) and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the University and was held at the Mahatma Hans Raj Auditorium.
The programme was inaugurated with a lamp lighting ceremony in the presence of university officials, including Registrar Prof. S. K. Arora; Prof. K. N. Kaul, Chairman of the Library Advisory Committee; Maninder Kaur Sood, Incharge of the Knowledge Resource Centre & Member Secretary; Dr. Sapna Sethi, Director of IQAC; and Library Advisory Committee members Dr. Yeshbeer Singh, Dr. Ashutosh Sharma, Dr. Dharmender Jaglan, and Dr. Sandeep Kumar, as well as various deans and coordinators.
Addressing the inaugural session, Prof. (Dr.) S. K. Arora, Registrar, said, “A modern university library plays a vital role in creating an environment of academic excellence. It is important that our faculty and students are aware of the resources available to them and know how to access and utilise them effectively. Workshops such as ‘Beyond the Books’ strengthen our research culture and encourage the academic community to make the best use of the University's library facilities.” Dr. Ashutosh Sharma, Associate Prof. Agr. Sc. who is also a Library Advisory Committee member introduced the programme of two day workshop.
The technical sessions on the first day provided participants with an orientation to My Loft (My Library on Fingertips), Perlego and ProQuest Research Library. Vaibhav Goyal, Senior Training Manager, MyLoft, conducted the session on My Loft, highlighting the concept of a virtual library and the convenience of accessing library resources anytime and from different locations. The session also emphasised the need for users to remain updated with evolving digital technologies and research practices. The programme lists faculty, research scholars and postgraduate students as the target audience for these sessions.
The session on Perlego, conducted by Shubham Singh, Training Manager, Perlego, Content Technology Services, introduced participants to its eBook database and its utility as a digital reading and research resource. The ProQuest Research Library session was conducted by Mr. Arun Kalia, Senior Zonal Head, North India, Content Technology Services, with emphasis on accessing research content and scholarly publications. 
The second day featured sessions on JSTOR, Turnitin Feedback Studio, EBSCO Host and Manupatra. The JSTOR session was conducted by Vineet Bhardwaj, Regional Manager, North, Globe Publication Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi. During the session, participants were introduced to JSTOR as an academic research resource, including its extensive collection of scholarly journals and archival material.
The Turnitin Feedback Studio session was conducted by Ashita Khandelwal, Customer Onboarding Consultant, South Asia, focusing on the use of digital tools for academic writing and feedback. This was followed by an EBSCO Host session by Ritesh Kumar Jha, Senior Training Manager, North India, EBSCO Information Services, particularly relevant for faculty, research scholars and postgraduate students in CBME and Agricultural Sciences. The final technical session on Manupatra was conducted by Sanjay Sharma, Senior Manager, Manupatra, with a focus on resources relevant to Law and Legal Studies. 
The worthy Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof.(Dr.) Manoj Kumar, felicitated the resource persons during the valedictory session and appreciated the efforts of the members of the Library Advisory Committee and IQAC.
All the sessions provided participants with practical exposure to different academic databases and digital platforms, enabling them to explore scholarly literature, eBooks, journals, research publications and other specialised academic resources. The workshop also highlighted the importance of developing effective digital research skills alongside conventional library practices. 
Prof. (Dr.) K. N. Kaul, Dean, Sciences and Chairman, Library Advisory Committee, expressed his gratitude to the University authorities, resource persons and participants for making the workshop a meaningful academic initiative. He thanked the Vice Chancellor and Registrar for their support and encouragement and appreciated the resource persons for providing valuable insights into various digital library platforms and research databases. He also acknowledged the efforts of the Knowledge Resource Centre and IQAC in organising the two-day workshop and encouraged faculty members, research scholars and students to make effective use of the e-resources available through the University library.
