Chandigarh, April 7, 2026: The Department of Library and Information Science, Panjab University (PU), organised a special lecture on the theme “From Shelves to Screens: Exploring Concepts, Tools, and Innovation in Digital Libraries.”
Chairperson, Dr. Khushpreet Singh Brar,  welcomed Resource Person,  Prof. Nishat Fatima from the Department of Library and Information Science, Aligarh Muslim University. Prof. Fatima is also the University Librarian at the Maulana Azad Library, AMU, and has authored over 60 research papers published in national and international journals and conference proceedings. She is an active member of several national and international library associations and regularly conducts training workshops in the domain of library and information science.
Neharika, Department Representative (DR), formally welcomed faculty members, students, and research scholars to the session.
In her lecture, Prof. Fatima discussed the evolving landscape of libraries, emphasising the transition from traditional physical repositories to more accessible and technology-driven digital environments. She outlined the key concepts, tools, and innovations shaping digital libraries, while also addressing the associated benefits and challenges. She further highlighted the growing relevance of digital libraries in the contemporary information ecosystem.
The lecture witnessed active participation from students and scholars and concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session.
