Chandigarh, August 3, 2026: The first day of the Induction Programme at PU-ISSER commenced with the Panjab University anthem, setting a warm and inspiring tone for the event.
The programme began with a welcome address by Prof. Anju Suri, Coordinator, PU-ISSER, who warmly welcomed the newly admitted students. She highlighted the unique interdisciplinary nature of PU-ISSER, explaining how its seven Social Science disciplines complement one another to provide a holistic learning experience. She emphasized that the ultimate aim of education is to enable students to live harmoniously in society. Prof. Anju Suri also informed students about the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) at the institute and elaborated on the various clubs, seminars, workshops, and extracurricular activities organized by PU-ISSER to promote academic and personal development. She concluded by once again extending a heartfelt welcome to all the new entrants.
The Chief Guest, Prof. Savita Gupta, Director, Research and Development Cell, Panjab University, congratulated the students on securing admission to the prestigious university. She encouraged them to make the most of the opportunities available during their academic journey, face challenges with courage, work responsibly, and uphold the rich legacy of Panjab University. She advised students to strive to become good learners, effective problem solvers, and, above all, individuals of strong character while growing into responsible citizens of the nation.
The session concluded with a comprehensive presentation by Prof. Anil Monga, Coordinator, National Education Policy (NEP), Panjab University. He provided a detailed overview of the National Education Policy, explaining its multidisciplinary framework, flexible degree structure, academic pathways, and the opportunities it offers students to pursue an interdisciplinary and holistic education.
