Chandigarh, January 7, 2015: Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh got Overall 3rd position in the All India Inter University Shooting Championship-2014-15 held at Punjabi University Patiala from January 1-6. PU was also declared 2nd Runner-up in Men and Women categories respectively. 63 Universities of the country participated in the Championship. PU won 13 medals, (2 Gold, 6 Silver, 5 Bronze).
Following are the detailed results of Panjab University Shooters Air Rifle Women team of PU comprising Nina Chandel, Vinita Bhardwaj and Anjum Modgil got Gold medal with 1173/1200. In the same event Anjum got Bronze in the Individual Category scoring 394/400. In Air Pistol Women Individual category Lovleen Kaur won the Silver medal scoring 373/400. In the Team Event comprising Lovleen Kaur, Mandeep Sandhu, Vishvpreet got Silver medal1092/1200.
In Air Pistol Men Individual category Ajitesh Kaushal won the Bronze medal scoring 570/600. In Air Rifle Men Individual category Milanpreet Singh got Gold medal 593/600 while Ajay Pal Singh got Bronze medal 590/600. In the Team Event comprising Milanpreet Singh, AjayPal Singh, Gagandeep Singh got Silver medal 1745/1800 for the PU.
In Clay Pigeon Shooting Skeet Men, Team of Gurjoat Singh, Terrry Beddi, Fatehjeet Singh Khatra got Silver medal. Gurjoat Singh wonthe Silver medal in the Individual category of Skeet Men Event.
In Trap Men Event: Namanveer Singh got Bronze medal in the Individual Category. While PU team of Namanveer Singh, Gurjoat Singh and Vir Harjinder Singh got Bronze medal. In Double Trap MenEvent Namanveer Singh, FatehjeetSingh and Gurjoat Singh got Silver medal Sh. D.S. Chandel Shooting Coach, imparted the coaching to the Panjab University Shooter. The rigorous coaching camp was conducted before the participation in the All India Inter University Shooting Championship.
Dr. Dolly and Dr. Amaninder Mann accompanied the team as a Manager of Women and Men Team while D.S. Chandel was Coach of Men and Women Team of PU. S.G.G.S. College, Sector-26, Chandigarh won the PU Inter College Judo (Men) Championship for the session 2014-15. S.C.D. Govt. College, Ludhiana, D.A.V. College, Sec. 10, Chandigarh and GGD S.D. College, Sec.32, Chandigarh secured third & fourth positions respectively.
